iCore Sports wanted to sell their workout videos over the internet as downloadable files. There are multiple workouts in a number of levels as well as several file formats for different devices and different versions for men and women. This all amounts to a lot of options. The first challenge in any ecommerce site is choosing to build your own cart or selecting one of the many off the shelf solutions. Once we chose a system, the next challenge was to configure the system to sell virtual products rather than material goods with more options and file formats than the system was generally set up to handle. We choose the industry standard ZenCart for our ecommerce system and then proceeded to tweak it to suit our needs using PHP/MySQL and some CSS tricks. With 6 products available in 1-3 levels of difficulty each, and separate workouts for men and women and 7 file formats to choose from for each workout, the tweaking was extensive. We ended up handling much of the choosing of the videos outside of Zencart and then seamlessly handing off the shopping cart and downloading process to the system to get around some limitations. Zencart then handles credit card transactions through Authorize.net and for both the user and administrator, the system is simple to use.
